Below is a list of questions frequently asked by about PINE Internet
Are you still being billed by Spectrum?
We have heard from a few residents still do not understand how the program is meant to work, in conjunction with other services Spectrum provides to its customers. A common complaint of customers is that they “are still being billed by Spectrum.” What we have found is that customers are being billed for non-internet services such as Cable TV or landline/cell phone which are separate from PINE Internet Service. MOST IMPORTANT, if you have a Spectrum bill the “Internet Services” line item should show “Zero”, no cost. SEE EXAMPLE, this charge has been transferred to the PINE Internet program. Of the few dozen residents who were adamant they were still being billed by Spectrum, we found only one (1) person was listed on the bulk program, who was indeed still being billed by Spectrum for internet services. We quickly communicated with Spectrum Community Development Solutions and had this error fixed. If you have charges on your Spectrum bill for internet services, send a copy to [email protected] or call (207)951-6132.
New Accounts
Each residence on Indian Island is eligible for the PINE-Spectrum bulk purchase program, Current users can opt out if they so choose, please just let us know, by calling or email, via the contact information. For new accounts with no current internet or equipment, the user will still have to call Spectrum to order their equipment and get their account started. Once the equipment is sent and connection established, APS will bill your residence as part of the program. We would appreciate a heads up for new sign ups, just in case Spectrum does not inform us of new signups.
Payments
We will have the ability to disconnect the internet access of any account that falls behind by multiple payments. However, we hope to only have to do as a last resort. If, for any reason, payments cannot be made, please contact us, we will be more than happy to work on a mutual solution to make any arrears current.
Autopay
Autopay is now enabled. One problem we have run into is that Autopay needs the CVV code to continue billing. If you selected the Autopay option, please make sure you fill in the CVV code. We have included the options for Credit Cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Online Checking for your convenience.
Privacy
We have been asked if the program will sell or share account information with 3rd parties. PINE-Internet is over seen by All Pine Solutions (APS), a PINE small business. APS has policies in place for handling information. APS will not share any information, names, addresses, anything, with vendors or any other 3rd party – ever. Privacy and protection of end user information is important to the company. Please see our privacy Statement here.
About the Spectrum Bulk Purchase Agreement
Pine internet was formed through a cooperative agreement between the Penobsot Nation and Spectrum Internet. The nation is able to purchase “bulk” internet bandwidth at a substantially reduced-price structure that translates to a cost of $32 per month per user which includes modem and WI-FI. Currently Spectrum is upgrading the network infrastructure on the Island to make sure all customers are able to get the 1Gb speed.
